Orientation dependence of the wear resistance in the Co–Cr–Mo single crystal

This is the report clarifying orientation dependence of wear behavior Co–Cr–Mo alloy. The resistance alloy with face-centered cubic (fcc) structure was found to be higher on planes in order {110}, {001} and {111}. Quantitatively, {110} 1.5 times larger than that tendency showed coincident surface hardness, as empirically suggested. However, we additionally observation worn fcc-single crystals volume fraction hexagonal close-packed (hcp)-phase, which formed strain-induced martensite during test, same resistance. variation formation frequency hcp-phase test can explained by focusing Schmid factor along resultant direction applied stress friction stress. On {111} where for ?-martensite small, homogeneous deformation microstructure covered it not developed even after long-time wear, resulting lower results strongly suggest only but distribution important control Co–Cr alloys extremely low stacking fault energy, achieved crystal ?-phase.
